Denver: Highlands, Riverfront & Sloan’s Lake

Lisa’s home base: a downtown address on the river, and an office in the Highlands.

City of Denver

Northwest Denver has some of the city’s most varied housing in a few square miles. The Highlands — LoHi, Highland and West Highland — mix Victorian homes, Denver Squares and brick bungalows with modern infill and townhomes. Walkable commercial streets run along 32nd Avenue, Tennyson Street and around Highlands Square.

Across I-25, Riverfront Park was built on former rail yards between Union Station and the South Platte River. Its mid- and high-rise condominiums sit beside Commons Park and Confluence Park, where Cherry Creek meets the Platte, with pedestrian bridges linking the neighborhood to both LoDo and LoHi. To the west, Sloan’s Lake — the largest lake in Denver — is ringed by a park loop, with newer construction and established homes on surrounding blocks.

Housing character

Highlands inventory ranges from restored historic homes on standard city lots to new three-story duplexes and rowhomes with rooftop decks. Riverfront Park is almost entirely condominium living, often with amenity buildings, concierge service and mountain or skyline views. Around Sloan’s Lake, a large share of recent sales are newer-construction duplexes and single-family homes.

Getting around

Union Station connects to light rail and the A Line to Denver International Airport. The South Platte River Trail and Cherry Creek Trail make it practical to commute or run errands by bike, and I-25 and I-70 are minutes away.
